History

  • 70 – years since 20 000 women of all races marched to the Union Buildings in 1956.

Water

  • More than R156 billion – public funding committed for water and sanitation infrastructure alone over the next three years.

Disasters

  • At least 45 – lives lost recently due to catastrophic flooding in Limpopo and Mpumalanga.
  • 14 million –number of cattle that will be vaccinated for foot-and-mouth disease nationally.
  • 28 million – vaccines required to inoculate the 14 million national herd of cattle over the next 12 months.
  • 12 – months over which 28 million vaccines will be administered to the country’s 14 million cattle.

Tourism

  • 13 – number of international tourist arrivals supporting one job.
  • 10.5 million – visitor arrivals recorded by the tourism sector last year, marking a historic milestone.
  • 24 – hours within which tourist visa applications will be processed digitally through the expanded Electronic Travel Authorisation system in the coming year.
  • Youth Empowerment and Employment
  • More than 200 000 – young people placed in year-long work experience opportunities through the Youth Employment Service partnership between business and government.

Early Childhood Development

  • More than 25% – children under the age of 5 years who are stunted, increasing their risk of disease and affecting their ability to learn and grow.
  • 2030 – target year to end child stunting and tackle malnutrition among young children, in line with the National Strategy to Accelerate Action for Children.
  • 1 000 – crucial first days of a child’s life on which government will focus.

Health

  • 6 – number of months per injection of Lenacapavir to prevent HIV transmission.
  • 9–15 – age group of young girls to receive the HPV vaccine as part of efforts to end cervical cancer.

Digitisation
