day
7 August 2006
You are cordially invited to the media open day to be hosted by Training
Division of the South African Police Service (SAPS) on Tuesday, 8 August 2006,
at the SAPS Training Institution in Pretoria West.
Following the recent spate of brutal police killings, training in the SAPS
has come under the spotlight, and under severe, but unfair criticism. Training
management would like to expose you to a brief presentation and practical
demonstration on the following aspects of theoretical and tactical
training:
* Policing in a Human Rights Environment
* Police procedures during an arrest
* Literacy in the SAPS
* Demonstration of a crime scene
* Demonstration of an arrest
* Demonstration of house clearance and penetration
* Demonstration on stop and search of a vehicle
* Demonstration, indoor shooting and simulation shooting
* Demonstration, Street Survival (shooting with three firearms and obstacle
course shooting). The course designed to improve fitness levels of police
members and to tactically protect their lives during attacks).
The programme is expected to finish at lunch time. Tea, coffee and lunch
will be served. A brief conference will be arranged at the end of the
demonstration.
