Limpopo Premier S Moloto sends condolences on the passing of
Norman Mashabane

11 October 2007

A dark cloud has befallen the people of our province and indeed of South
Africa. The 10th of October will never be erased in our memories as this was
the day in which one of our own, comrade Norman Mashabane, departed us early
from this earth in a car accident. We are deeply hurt and shocked to learn that
this accident also claimed the life of Masetle who is his son.

"We regard comrade Norman as a product of a particular era, which bred a
generation of selfless revolutionaries in our democratic struggle. Our people
have been deprived of a genuine leader who was still poised to guide us through
the current challenges of unemployment, underdevelopment and poverty. We have
been hit hard where it hurts most. Indeed, death has taken from us a true
friend and a true leader who never wavered in the face of difficult
challenges.

Our hearts go out to his wife, MEC Maite Nkoana-Mashabane, members of his
family, and the African National Congress (ANC), which he served distinctively
throughout his entire life. His passing is also an enormous loss to the
tripartite alliance, government and the Legislature of our province. We will
never the forget the role which comrade Norman Mashabane played as leader of
the South African Youth Congress (SAYC), as MEC for Local government and
Traditional Affairs, as an Ambassador to Indonesia, as Political Advisor to the
Premier, as Provincial Executive Committees PEC member of the ANC and lately as
Member of the Provincial legislature."

Go well comrade "fellow fighter", said Limpopo Premier Sello Moloto.
