Mpumalanga Safety and Security MEC, Mr Siphosezwe Masango has learnt with
great shock about the senseless murder of Mbombela Local Municipality Speaker,
Counsellor Jimmy Mohlala.
Mohlala died from a bullet wound he sustained during a shooting incident
that took place at his house in KaNyamazane on Sunday night. The motive for the
shooting is not known.
Meanwhile, Masango has commended the management of South African Police
Service (SAPS) in the province for assigning the case to the Organised Crime
Unit. "This shows that the case will receive the necessary attention it
deserves and that possibilities of solving the matter are high," said
Masango.
According to Masango, this move will ensure that the suspects are speedily
brought to book.
"We are appealing to community members who may have information regarding
the shooting to immediately contact the police so that perpetrators could be
prosecuted," he said.
MEC Masango sends messages of condolences to the Mohlala family, friends and
colleagues at Mbombela Local Municipality.
