Mahlangu hands over new house keys to 107-year-old

15 May 2007

Gauteng Local Government MEC Qedani Dorothy Mahlangu will on Wednesday, 16
May 2007, officially hand over house keys to 107-year-old Liesbet Nkosi of
Chief Luthuli Park in Benoni.

The old granny has been living in a shack for a long time and has been
relying on her old age pension grant for survival.

Due to ill health and the fact that she can no longer walk properly, Nkosi
could not apply for a housing subsidy. She shares the shack with her daughter,
81-year-old Maria Ntombikayise Meko.

Nkosi's housing plight caught the attention of Million Zitha, a Community
Development Worker (CDW) in the area, who made it his personal mission to
assist the grandmother to get a house.

For his effort Zitha will receive a certificate of appreciation from the MEC
for assisting a senior citizen with housing.

Details of the event are as follows:
Date: Wednesday, 16 May 2007
Time: 14h00
Venue: House no 1662, Extension 4, Chief Luthuli Park, Cloverdene, Benoni
