Commissions (AAPSComs) and the first general assembly
11 February 2009
Public Services Commissions of Africa play a fundamental role in promoting
and maintaining good governance and public administration on the continent.
They have the responsibility of driving a common vision of an African public
service, which is an effective engine of delivery on the millennium development
goals to create a better life for the African citizenry. Collectively their
knowledge and insight is pivotal in the transformation of public services in
Africa.
It is against this background that the Association of African Public Service
Commissions (AAPSComs) was established at a meeting of Chairpersons of African
Public Services Commissions on 9 April 2008 in Kampala, Uganda. It was at this
meeting that the Chairperson of the South African Public Service Commission,
Professor Stan Sangweni, was appointed Interim President of AAPSComs.
As Secretariat of AAPSComs, the Public Service Commission of South Africa
would like to invite members of the media to the official launch of the
Association of African Public Service Commission and the first general
assembly.
