President Jacob Zuma will no longer be able to join the University of Cape Town's (UCT) Graduate School of Business Development Finance conference tomorrow, 20 August 2015.
President Jacob Zuma will on Thursday, 20 August 2015, return to the University of Cape Town’s Graduate School of Business to interact with the Master of Commerce in Development Finance students on the mandate and functions of the BRICS New Development Bank.
While attending the ANC’s national executive committee (NEC) meeting on the campus in January this year, the students managed to get the President out of the NEC meeting into their lecture hall for an hour.
A lively discussion ensued on development finance in Africa including the role of the new bank. The President assigned the students to prepare a presentation on the New Development Bank including their advice on how it should be shaped for it to make a difference in the developing world.
He will return to campus to listen to the presentation during the school’s Development Finance Forum which is being held under the theme: “Attributes of a Development Bank for Africa’s Development Needs and Challenges”.
The students told the President that their mission is to change Africa and to contribute to improving the development prospects of the continent.
President Zuma will further interact with students and executive directors of development finance institutions on various economic development matters that affect South Africa and Africa at large.
The President will be accompanied by the Minister of Finance, Mr Nhlanhla Nene.
