Mr M J R de Villiers (DA-WC) to ask the Minister of Social Development:
(1) Whether she has been informed of the instances where funds that were allocated to provincial departments for the payment of conditional grants have been spent for other purposes; if not, what is the position in this regard; if so, (a) which provincial departments are involved in this situation and (b) what are the relevant details in each case;
(2) Whether any measures will be taken (a) against provinces which are involved in this matter, (b) to rectify the situation in each case and (c) to ensure that such situation does not reoccur in the future; if not, why not; if so, what are the relevant details in each case?
Reply:
(1)(a) We could not be informed of any conditional grant that would have been spent for other purposes because social development does not administer any conditional grant, nor do the provincial Social Development Departments.
(2)(a), (b) and (c)Not applicable.
