The Portfolio Committee on Police has condemned, in the strongest terms, the brutal killing of eight family members in KwaZulu-Natal’s (KZN’s) South Coast at Matabeni near Mtwalume, yesterday.
“The inhumane killing suffered by this family is indicative of the utter disregard criminals have against our law and we urge the South African Police Service(SAPS) to act swiftly in bringing the perpetrators to book,” said Committee Chairperson Mr Francois Beukman.
The incident is said to have occurred after 2am yesterday where four men, two women and two babies were murdered and a child suffering from Down’s syndrome was left unharmed.
Mr Beukman said the SAPS will have to provide the Committee with regular updates on how far the investigation was proceeding. The Committee also urged investigating officers tasked with this case to be meticulous in their work so as to ensure a successful conviction of the perpetrators.
