Vilakazi to address North West Housing Corporation's Mafikeng
tenants

28 November 2006

The North West MEC for developmental local government and housing, Phenye
Vilakazi, will today address the tenants of all the flats that belong to the
North West Housing Corporation (NWHC) in Mafikeng at a meeting to be held at
the Ratshidi hall starting from 17h00. Vilakazi will be accompanied by NWHC
Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Pitso Tolo, and his managers.

Today's meeting follows a memorandum handed over to Premier Edna Molewa last
week, Thursday, 23 November 2006, in which the tenants demanded that their
grievances be responded to within three working days. The following grievances
are contained in the memorandum:
* that the tenants be given first priority to purchase their flats
* immediate re-connection of basic services (i.e. water and electricity)
* correct monthly rental statements be issued out
* direct supply of electricity by Eskom
* installation of pre-paid water meters
* total disbandment of NWHC.

At the meeting, Vilakazi will update the tenants on the process of disposing
of NWHC's flats.
