Please join Premier Lynne Brown and Minister Pierre Uys at a special
unveiling event tomorrow.
The Minister of Local Government, Environmental Affairs and Development
Planning, Pierre Uys, will announce exciting detail of a special provincial
initiative (the Clean Development Mechanism Desk) that would result in new
foreign currency invested in the Western Cape, stimulating growth and see new
jobs created.
The briefing takes place at 11h00 till lunch on Friday, 3 April
2009 at the Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden conference facility, Old
Mutual Hall. Minister will highlight the initiatives undertaken by the
provincial government to become a true green province and to earn money from
other countries in order to reduce carbon on their behalf.
This mechanism is part of the international drive to address the challenges
and threat of accelerated climate change by reducing greenhouse gasses and the
ensuing opportunities by transforming to a low carbon economy and sustainable
development.
