Deputy President Mlambo-Ngcuka addresses the opening of the Ankerlig and
Gourikwa Power Stations at Atlantis, Western Cape,
1 October 2007

Deputy President Mlambo-Ngcuka will on Monday, 1 October, 2007 deliver a
keynote address at the opening of the Ankerlig and Gourikwa power stations, at
Atlantis, outside Cape Town.

Eskom constructed two Open Cycle Gas Turbines (OCTG) power stations at
Atlantis and Mossel Bay. These are environmentally friendly stations which are
powered by either natural gas or liquid fuel (kerosene or diesel) and can be
used during peak periods.

The OCGT stations will play an important role in stabilising supply to the
Western Cape Province by supporting the existing network.
