The Gauteng Youth Commission, Yfm and the City of Tshwane invite all young
people in the province to the launch of the Annual Gauteng Youth Economic
Fair.
The fair will be addressed by Gauteng MEC for Finance and Economic Affairs,
Paul Mashatile, and Executive Mayor of Tshwane, Gwen Ramokgopa. The fair will
culminate in an exhibition by all government departments and several private
sector companies.
Through the fair, the commission seeks to display all services available to
young people in government and the private sector. Information on the services
to be exhibited includes the following:
* establishing your own business
* raising finance for your business
* general support for small, medium and micro-enterprises (SMMEs)
* how to tender for government
* career information
* bursaries
* applying for jobs in government.
In line with government's objective of enabling faster economic growth,
fighting poverty and building an effective and caring government, the
commission seeks to use this initiative to stimulate the participation of young
people in the mainstream economy.
The fair also seeks to ensure that relevant information is made available to
young people through all channels of accessibility made available by
Government.
In addition to the fair, the commission will embark on other initiatives
that will ensure that appropriate strategies are in place to facilitate youth
economic participation.
