The Minister of Arts and Culture, Dr Z Pallo Jordan will host a day long
festival not only to bring the people of the country together but to celebrate
the triumph of the human spirit over our conflicted past. The event, dubbed
"Reconciliation towards hosting a successful 2010 Fifa World Cup", will take
place at the Union Buildings in Tshwane from 08h00 until late, on 16 December
2007.
It promises to provide a platform for the diverse and multicultural people
of South Africa and other parts of the world to share and exchange cultural
experience. "This event is intended to bring the diverse and multicultural
people of this nation together to celebrate the triumph of our democracy." It
will lay the groundwork of the vibe and spirit of togetherness that should
characterise the Fan Parks during the World Cup.
"What lies behind us as a nation are tiny matters compared to what lies
ahead of us. We need to continue to strengthen the ties that bind us together
as members of one nation who have overcome our conflicted past," said Jordan.
The celebrations will comprise of an African book fair exhibition and sales,
The Beautiful Things Exhibition and live music performances.
