P Jordan and N Mtsweni to open Mbuzini library, 6 Oct

The opening of the Mbuzini library

26 September 2006

The Mpumalanga MEC for Culture Sport and Recreation, Nomsa Mtsweni, and the
Minister of Arts and Culture, Dr Pallo Jordan, will be officially opening the
Mbuzini library on 6 October 2006, from 10h00. The library forms part of the
legacy project of the Samora Machel tragedy that occurred 20 years ago on 19
October 1986, and is meant to benefit the community of Mbuzini and surrounding
areas.

The library will be resourced with the latest book editions and efforts will
be made to ensure that the library collection includes books in Portuguese and
or about Mozambique and her history. While the Nkomazi municipality will
provide the staff, the Department of Culture, Sport and Recreation will provide
library material to develop the collection.

The Nelson Mandela Foundation will also provide two exhibitions; one will be
of books that Mr Mandela has received over the years and the other will be on
the comic strip project. The Fundza for fun, provincial reading campaign aimed
at encouraging the public to use library, the brain child of MEC Ms Nomsa
Mtsweni will be part of the opening ceremony programme.

Entertainment from the Matsamo cultural group will form part of the
celebrations that will be witnessed by international, national and provincial
dignitaries, and by the community. Besides servicing the general community of
Mbuzini, the library will be a much needed resource centre to seven schools in
the area.
