Minister Pandor to address a symposium on the Education Sector
Global HIV/AIDS Readiness Survey 2004 report (13h00), and the launch of the
exhibition in commemoration of the thirteenth anniversary of the 16 June 1976
student uprising (18h00)

The Minister of Education, Mrs Naledi Pandor, will tomorrow, Wednesday, 19
July 2006, at 13h00 address a symposium on the Education Sector Global HIV/AIDS
Readiness Survey 2004 report, which will be launched at the Nelson Mandela
Foundation, Houghton in Johannesburg.

The report documents the outcomes of the first international survey of
education sector readiness in the world’s most vulnerable countries, and their
capacity to manage and mitigate the impact of HIV/AIDS.

Ministries of education in 71 countries, including South Africa, and civil
society organisation in 18 countries, were surveyed to help all stakeholders
better understand the impact of HIV/AIDS, identify problems and guide future
planning.

At 18h00, Wednesday, 19 July 2006, the Minister of Education, Mrs Naledi
Pandor will officially launch the exhibition in commemoration of the 30th
anniversary of the 16 June 1976 student uprising at the Apartheid Museum in
Johannesburg.

The exhibition will focus on the photographs of Mr Peter Magubane, taken
during the period 1976 and 1977.
