Minister of Foreign Affairs Dlamini Zuma to host Dominican
Foreign Minister

Pretoria � South African Foreign Minister Dr Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma will
hold bilateral political and economic discussions with her counterpart from the
Dominican Republic, Minister Carlos Morales Troncoso at the Presidential
Guesthouse in Pretoria on Tuesday, 3 October 2006.

Minister Dlamini Zuma's discussions with Minister Morales comes within the
context of South Africa's priority to enhance South-South co-operation for
improved market access and advancement of the agenda of the South through the
African-Caribbean-Pacific � European Union (ACP-EU) relationship.

In this regard, Heads of State and Government at the Non-Aligned Movement
(NAM) Summit and 61st session of the United Nations General Assembly reiterated
the importance of development as one of the key areas of co-operation and in
eliminating poverty.

Accordingly, issues on the agenda of discussions between Ministers Dlamini
Zuma and Morales on Tuesday, 3 October 2006, are expected to include among
others:

* the status of bilateral political, economic relations between both
countries including further areas of co-operation in the fields of minerals and
energy, trade and industry, culture and tourism
* the global partnership between developing countries, with particular
reference to South Africa's chairmanship of the Group of 77 + China (G-77 +
China).
* an assessment of the outcomes of the NAM Summit hosted by Cuba in September
2006
* South Africa's role within the African Union and New Partnership for Africa's
Development (NEPAD) structures, as well as conflict resolution on the African
continent
* the comprehensive reform of the United Nations including the financial
institutions.

Ministers Dlamini Zuma and Morales are expected to sign a Declaration of
Intent on conclusion of their discussions on Tuesday, 3 October 2006.

Minister Morales is expected to depart from South Africa on Saturday, 7
October 2006.
