Eastern Cape Premier, Mrs Nosimo Balindlela, has terminated the appointment
of Commissioner Mlungisi Lumka who was chairperson of the Eastern Cape Youth
Commission and Nonkuselo Nkayitshana, a commissioner, with immediate
effect.
This is after careful consideration of the matter and in terms of the
provisions of the promotion of the Youth Affairs Act, no. 6 of 1995, as
amended.
It is Premierâs considered view that the working relationship with these
commissioners has irretrievably broken down as a result of the circumstances
surrounding the publication of various media articles and advertisement by the
Commission.
The decision has been taken after compliance with Premierâs obligation to
consult with youth of the Eastern Cape Province as required by the Act.
The positions of all three Youth commissioners are vacant and the filling of
these vacancies will now proceed.
