The official opening of the MRTT Construction Centre of Excellence

The Mpumalanga Regional Training Trust (MRTT) will officially open a
Construction Centre of Excellence (CCOEs). This initiative follows after an
application for accreditation was made by MRTT and subsequently granted by the
Construction Sector Education and Training Authority (SETA) and Construction
Education and Training Authority (CETA). The official opening of the centre
will be graced by the presence of the Honourable Premier, Mr Thabang Makwetla,
MEC for Education, Mrs Mmathulare Coleman and eMalahleni Mayor, Ms Linah
Malatji.

Construction Centres of Excellence are CETAs flagship institutions that seek
to build and sustain South Africa’s competitive advantage through the wide
provision of qualified and skilled artisans in the construction field. They are
also seen as the skills hubs of the construction sector that aim to supply the
industry with qualified artisans in construction related trades. CCOEs are an
intervention to address the supply of scarce and critical skills in the sector.
They are built upon a reputation for fast, flexible, quality education and
training programmes and are a strategic intervention to the economic growth of
the country.

At this stage, CETA has accredited five CCOEs to respond to the above, two
in Gauteng and one each in KwaZulu-Natal, Western Cape and Mpumalanga (MRTT
CCOE).

The official opening has been scheduled to take place as follows:

Date: 3 April 2009
Time: 09h00
Venue: MRTT eMalahleni Centre 5 Moses Kotane Drive Ferrobank, eMalahleni
1035

This achievement will not only benefit the MRTT institution, but it is aimed
at empowering the youth of the Mpumalanga province with requisite technical
skills.

All media is invited.
