Mpumalanga Education runs Book Flood campaign

The Mpumalanga Department of Education in collaboration with Ilanga Mall (Mbombela) is running a “Book Flood Campaign” and is calling upon all its stakeholders to donate books towards this initiative.

The aim of this campaign is to increase the availability of story books in public schools by encouraging the public and private sector in participating, by donating books.

The “Book Flood Campaign” which is directed to all the learners will contribute to the overall improvement of learning outcomes as a result of availability of reading resources. The project will also assist the learners to achieve the following;
• Improve their literacy skills
• Increase access to reading materials,
• Improve their performance in reading/literacy assessments,
• Improve their comprehension of all the subjects

The Book Flood Campaign will foster the culture of reading amongst learners of all age groups. We therefore call upon members of the community, the business community and all other stakeholders to participate in this campaign by donating any type books”, said the MEC Mrs. Reginah Mhaule.

The Department together with the management of Ilanga Mall (Mbombela) will put boxes in all strategic areas at the mall where the books can be deposited.
