Delegates from the Gauteng Department of Education, Chief Director of
District Thami Mali and Gauteng West District Director Vusi Mkhize, will
tomorrow, Friday 3 March 2006, meet with the Congress of South African Students
(COSAS), Young Communist League (YCL), teachers unions and student governing
bodies in Khutsong to collectively try and restore effective learning and
teaching especially in secondary schools.
"We are very concerned as the Gauteng Department of Education that there has
been some learning and teaching in primary schools in Khutsong but a total
collapse in learning and teaching at secondary and high schools in the area,â
said MEC Angie Motshekga.
"Learners lose quite a lot of learning that we believe we can be able to
assist them to catch up," said MEC.
