Minister Zizi Kodwa receives courtesy call from Bafana Bafana captain Ronwen Williams

The Minister of Sport, Arts and Culture, Mr Zizi Kodwa, received a courtesy call from Bafana Bafana captain and Mamelodi Sundowns goalkeeper Mr Ronwen Williams, on Thursday 9 May 2024. The Bafana Bafana captain was one of the recipients of the Minister’s Excellence Awards at the SA Sport Awards but could not attend the awards due to club commitments.

Williams expressed appreciation to the Minister for being awarded this prestigious award. He further stated that it is his aim to inspire our people, and to show what is possible, no matter where one comes from.

Minister Kodwa congratulated Williams and the Mamelodi Sundowns team for reaching the final of the Nedbank Cup. The Minister conveyed to Williams that he has been an inspiration to many South Africans, especially from Gelvandale in Gqeberha where he grew up, and in rural communities around the country.

The Minister thanked Williams for being an example to many and encouraged him to continue to display excellence on and off the field.
