The Eastern Cape Department of Transport held yet another successful Suppliers’ day and information sharing session at Idutywa TRC hall on 11 November 2011.
Expressing his delight and appreciation at the end of the session, Managing Director of Ukubonisana Trading and Projects, Lunga Dlambulo said that these types of session bridges the gap between the successful white and the previously disadvantaged black owned businesses in remote areas like Idutywa.
“This session was very helpful to me; now I know that I no longer have to visit each and every department in order to register on their database but to register on Provincial Treasury’s database. The suppliers' day equipped small business owners with the information that will lead them to the right procurement process,” said Dlambulo.
The purpose of the session was to strengthen the working relationship between and provide suppliers’ with vital information. Business owners were given information on the Centralised Electronic Suppliers’ Database, Construction Industry Development Board, Fraud Prevention and the South African Revenue and Price Index.
Departmental Supply Chain Management Director: Sindisa Conjwa explained to suppliers that some of the obstacles that lead to unsuccessful applications of suppliers’ is that their documents are not fully and properly completed and also improper invoicing can lead to delay of payments to service providers.
