Yawa on oversight and monitoring visits to police stations in Madibeng

In an effort to deepen a culture of service delivery particularly during night shifts at police stations, North West MEC for Public Safety, Howard Yawa, embarked on his first round of unannounced visit to police stations in Madibeng Local Municipality that ended just before midnight on Friday.

The visit to Hartbeespoortdam, Brits, Mothotlung, Mmakau and Klipgat police stations brings to nine the number of police stations visited by the provincial Department of Safety within a week after the MEC Yawa committed to intensify oversight and monitoring during his 2009 Departmental Policy statement and budget speech.

"We are encouraged by the significant improvement in terms of sobriety of police on duty, compliance with prescripts regarding wearing of bullet proof vests and general cleanliness of community service centres that previous reports had highlighted as challenges." Yawa remarked.

He further that he is confident that the resolve to forge a cohesive relationship between the police and our communities will buttress efforts to improve the level of service offered at respective police stations.

The visits followed closely on Thursday evening's unannounced oversight and monitoring visits conducted at Leewdoringstadt, Makwasie, Ottosdal and Wolmaranstadt police stations.
