On Tuesday 24 August 2010, Government in partnership with SABC 1 brought you another episode of the reality show called “Rize Mzansi”. The seventh episode of this television series featured information on networking skills.
Since August is Women’s Month, the episode focused on government initiatives called South African Women Entrepreneurs Network (SAWEN) and Technology for Women in Business (TWIB). These initiatives were set up by Department of Trade and Industry (dti) to develop women entrepreneurs and their networking skills.
SAWEN was set up to help women entrepreneurs access organisations and individuals who can help them grow their business, form partnerships and find markets for their products. SAWEN is open to all women who own or manage enterprises and can join the network to access data base; business resources and to learn about business opportunities.
TWIB is an initiative aimed at enhancing the accessibility of science and technology to women in business to improve their businesses by cutting costs, improve efficiency, improve production and even help in crossing the cultural gap. It also offers training such as basic computer training; execute business interventions and facilitate linkages between women in business and technology service providers.
To take advantage of SAWEN and TWIB, visit the Department of Trade & Industry website, www.dti.gov.za or call the helpline on 012 394 1644.
So, make sure to watch “Rize Mzansi” on SABC1 on Tuesday evenings between 18H30 and 19h30 as it highlights the economic opportunities in the inclusive economy for emerging entrepreneurs and potential beneficiaries.
Visit www.gov.za every Wednesday until 6 October 2010 to find out about economic opportunities that were aired on “Rize Mzansi”.
