Worker dies after horse truck door fall on him

The Department of Labour is investigating the fatal injury of a horse keeper who died after the back door of the truck that transports horses fell on him at the Monyani Stables near Kudu shaft on the Odendaalsrus road, Free State.

According to the reports a cable which holds the back door of the truck came loose and fell on the deceased who sustained head injuries and died on the scene on Tuesday 3 August.

Labour inspectors are currently at the scene of the accident to investigate the cause of death and whether the employer was fully compliant to the Occupational Health and Safety Act at the time of the accident.
