The Department of Women, Youth and Persons with Disabilities joins the nation in observing Casual Day, an annual campaign aimed at promoting the rights, dignity, and inclusion of persons with disabilities.
This day provides an important platform to raise awareness of the challenges faced by persons with disabilities, while also celebrating their contributions to our communities and the broader development of our nation. It reminds us of our collective responsibility to create an inclusive society where no one is excluded or left behind.
The Department reaffirms government’s commitment to advancing the rights of persons with disabilities, in line with the Constitution of the Republic of South Africa and our obligations under the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.
Through collaboration with all sectors of society, we will continue to promote access, equality, and full participation in social, economic, and political life. As we commemorate Casual Day, the Department calls on all South Africans to demonstrate solidarity by supporting initiatives that empower persons with disabilities, dismantle barriers, and promote inclusive development.
