Minister of Basic Education, Angie Motshekga has realised her vision of establishing a vehicle for direct and consistent communication with teachers through the “What’s Up Teach?” magazine.
“What’s Up Teach?” is a fresh, new Department of Basic Education initiative to:
- Communicate critical pedagogical and support information to teachers in a creative and interactive manner;
- Enhance teaching and learning through a user friendly medium; and
- Start a vibrant conversation between the Department of Basic Education, Educators and key stakeholders in the education sector.
The focus of the first edition is literacy and numeracy with particular emphasis on the reading strategy, Annual National Assessments, TIMSS, PIRLS and the School Improvement Plan to inform school administrative and management planning and preparation for the year ahead.
The magazine will be distributed to all Public Schools in the country and will be produced quarterly.
