Western Cape tourism winners shine at national awards
Alan Winde, Minister of Economic Opportunities, has commended the Western Cape winners of the national Lilizela Awards.
The awards, which are an initiative of the National Department of Tourism, seek to recognise excellence in the tourism sector. Thirteen Western Cape winners took top spots at the national awards.
Minister Winde said: “Our tourism establishments won in a diverse set of categories. This ranged from universal accessibility, lifestyle and culture, marine adventures and social investment. This speaks to the versatility of our offering. I’d like to congratulate the winners. They’ve garnered exposure for their establishments and for the destination as a whole.
“Under Project Khulisa we have the goal of adding up to a further 100 000 jobs to the tourism sector. Establishments like these, who are ambassadors for service excellence, will play a key role in reaching that goal.”
The winners of the awards were announced at a gala ceremony last week.
