Reminder-media accreditation for SOPA closes today

Members of the media wishing to attend the Opening of the Provincial Parliament in Mitchells Plain on Thursday, where Premier Alan Winde will deliver his State of the Province Address, are reminded that they must submit their requests for accreditation by noon today.

Members of the media wishing to cover the event must contact Matthys Odendal (021 487 1714 or 082 575 1735 or modendal@wcpp.gov.za) for accreditation.

Please provide the following: personal information (first name, surname, ID no and media house/publication) and contact information (cell phone number and email address).

Media logistics for Thursday and for the debate and response on Friday:

Members of the media who have received accreditation must report to the media registration desk in the foyer of the Rocklands Civic Centre between 08:00 and 09:30 on Thursday, 20 February where they will be issued with a media tag and assisted to gain entry to the venue. All media representatives must bring an ID book/card or driving licence.

State of the Province Address

Refreshments for the media will be provided in the Minor Hall at the Rocklands Civic Centre after the adjournment of the House.

The debate on the Premier’s SOPA and the reply by the Premier on the debate will take place on 21 February in the same venue.

11h30 Premier’s reply to the debate

Media representatives that accredited for the SOPA on 20 February that were issued media tags do not have to accredit for the debate and reply on 21 February again on condition that they wear/display the issued media tags.

For broadcast journalists:

A number of three-pin male audio connections will be available. Three-pin female connections will therefore be required to connect recording devices to the audio feed. Please ensure that you have the necessary leads.

Five SDI (HD) connections to video feed can be accommodated if television stations would like to pick up the live feed of the sitting. Only cameras with SDI ports will be able to connect and crews are required to bring their own cables and converters.

For photographers:

Photographers will be allowed to shoot from the press area inside the venue (SOPA) and at the entrance to Rocklands Civic Centre (procession by Western Cape Safety Stakeholders). An official will be available to assist photographers in this area. No flash photography will be permitted from any location.
