Western Cape MEC for Social Development Albert Fritz addresses Goodwood College–Grandwest partnership

MEC Albert Fritz today attended the celebration and opening of the newly refurbished Reading Room at Goodwood College. The Reading Room was refurbished with generous donations from the Grandwest Casino Corporate Social Investment (CSI) programme.

In the wake of National Book Week, the Western Cape Government remains committed to help foster a reading culture in the province. To this end, it is encouraging to see the private sector get involved and develop young people’s interest in reading.

In his address, MEC Fritz emphasised the importance of all social partners embracing the whole-of-society approach. This approach calls for government, NGOs, the private sector, and individuals in communities working better together to achieve common goals.

The Western Cape Government will continue to create spaces and opportunities, including supporting initiatives by other social partners, which improve the lives of residents, especially youth. We believe development and progress is best achieved by everyone working ‘Better Together’ and fulfilling their responsibilities.
