The Gauteng Department of Health and Social Development would like to state that water supply which was disrupted at Tshwane District Hospital last week has been restored.
The department apologises profusely to patients who were affected by the shortage of water supply, their families and the general public for the inconvenience caused by this unfortunate incident.
Last Tuesday afternoon, 14 February 2012, a pipe which supplies water to the hospital and surrounding areas burst. Hospital management immediately informed the City of Tshwane and the Department of Infrastructure Development who then began with the repairs. The engineers tried to fix the problem in the shortest time possible but unfortunately it took longer than expected.
Between Tuesday and Saturday evening, 18 February 2012 when water was restored, contingency plans were made by hospital management to ensure that service delivery was not interrupted however things could not be the same without the availability of running water.
