Water and Sanitation on successful Baswa le Meetse competition

DWS host successful Provincial (BLM) Baswa le Meetse Competitions

The Department of Water and Sanitation hosted successful Baswa le Meetse Provincial Competitions in Bloemfontein on the 01st of September 2021. The event was held in Bon Hotel.

Participants were explicitly learners in intermediate phase from Thabo Mofutsanyane, Xhariep, Lejweleputswa, Fezile Dabi Districts and Mangaung Metro. Whom all earned their tickets to Provincial from participating at their Districts competitions.  Learners aligned their message with the theme “Washing of hands, use and care of sanitation facilities for healthy life”.

Learners competed in five categories namely Traditional Music, Drama, Poetry, Poster and Praise-Poetry.

The cherry on top went to Tabola Primary School from Qwa-Qwa in Thabo Mofutsanyane District, who scoped both Music and Poster categories.  Namanyane Primary School from Thaba-Nchu under Mangaung Metro took position in Drama category. St Mary’s Primary School in Mangaung Metro walked away as winners with Praise category. Poetry went to Seiphemo Primary School also from Thaba-Nchu in the Metro. Each winner took R10 000 as Provincial winner’s

Winners will be competing with other winners from different Provinces at National Competition’s in Gauteng from 2-8 October 2022.

The competitions promote water wise awareness though messages on water use efficiency, water conservation, water resource protection health and hygiene.
