Listed dams in Nkangala District record unchanged levels over the week
All the listed dams in the Nkangala District of the Mpumalanga Province recorded unchanged levels over the week. The Department of Water and Sanitation (DWS) weekly state of reservoirs report of 14 July 2020 shows that all the listed dams in the Nkangala District remained unchanged from the levels recorded a week earlier.
According to the report, Witbank Dam remained unchanged at 98.6%, Middelburg Dam remained unchanged at 92.9%, Loskop Dam remained unchanged at 100.1% and Rhenosterkop Dam remained unchanged at 2.0%. The weekly report also shows that on average, the listed dams in the Mpumalanga Province recorded a slight drop from last week’s 72.6% to 72.3%. The water management areas (WMA) also recorded declines in water volumes with the Olifants WMA dropping from 67.0% to 66.9% and the Inkomati-Usuthu WMA dropping from 70.0% to 69.6%.
The Department of Water and Sanitation would like to urge communities to continue using water wisely and intensify water conservation measures to ensure that there is enough water to last the communities until the next rainy season, especially as we need every drop of water to fight and curb the spread of the coronavirus.
