The Department of Water and Sanitation (DWS) has been alerted of a voice clip that is being circulated on social media, alleging that there will be a water shut down in the province.
After receiving a number of enquiries on this allegation, DWS wishes to categorically state that the clip is a fabrication of lies and we urge the public to stay calm and not take it seriously.
The strike by National Education Health and Allied Workers Union came to end yesterday after the Department came to an agreement with them.
However, it should be noted that the Department of Water and Sanitation does not provide water directly to the communities but Municipalities and Waterboards do that.
During the strike period, there is not water shut down that was reported. Water services continued as normal.
