Water and Sanitation confirms resignation of Mr Mo Shaik

The Department of Water and Sanitation acknowledges the resignation of Mr Mo Shaik as a member of the Advisory Committee on the Stabilisation and the Efficient Functioning of the Water Sector. Mr Shaik was requested by the Minister to assist the Director-General through this Committee to particularly focus on investment and funding for water infrastructure. This was on the back of Mr Shaik’s experience at the Development Bank of Southern Africa.

Mr Shaik was initially appointed by Minister Lindiwe Sisulu as an advisor and all processes were duly followed in this regard, including the concurrence of the Minister of Public Service and Administration as required by the law. Further deliberations resulted in Mr Shaik not taking up the position or signing the acceptance letter, thereby requiring the Minister of Public Service and Administration to be duly informed by means of the requisite return letter.

This was prior to his appointment as a member of the Stabilisation and Efficient Functioning of the Water Sector from which he has now resigned.
