Municipal ward by-elections will take place in Gauteng, KwaZulu-Natal, Limpopo and the Western Cape on Wednesday, 28 May 2014.
A total of six (6) wards will be contested. Voting will take place in 34 voting districts in the following wards:
Gauteng:
- Ward 27 in Tshwane Metro Municipality – TSH with 11 739 registered voters. The ward was previously represented by the African National Congress and became vacant as a result of the imprisonment of the councillor.
- Ward 58 in Tshwane Metro Municipality – TSH with 15 914 registered voters. The ward was previously represented by the Democratic Alliance and became vacant as a result of the resignation of the councillor.
KwaZulu-Natal:
- Ward 2 in Umvoti Municipality – KZN245 with 5 039 registered voters. The ward was previously represented by the African National Congress and became vacant as a result of the resignation of the councillor.
Limpopo:
- Ward 4 in Lephalale Municipality – LIM362 with 4 487 registered voters. The ward was previously represented by the Democratic Alliance and became vacant as a result of the death of the councillor.
Western Cape:
- Ward 25 in City of Cape Town [Cape Town] Municipality – CPT with 17 296 registered voters. The ward was previously represented by the Democratic Alliance and became vacant as a result of the resignation of the councillor.
- Ward 6 in Matzikama Municipality – WC011 with 3 578 registered voters. The ward was previously represented by the Democratic Alliance and became vacant as a result of the death of the councillor.
