Wards to be contested in the municipal by-elections of 15 February 2012

Municipal ward by-elections will take place in four provinces namely Free State, Gauteng, KwaZulu-Natal and Limpopo on Wednesday, 15 February 2012.

A total of seven (7) wards will be contested. Voting will take place in 26 voting districts in the following wards:

Free State:

Ward 9 in Metsimaholo [Sasolburg] Municipality – FS204 with 2 764 registered voters. The ward was previously represented by the African National Congress and became vacant as a result of the death of the councillor.

Gauteng:

  • Ward 28 in Tshwane Metro [Pretoria] Municipality – TSH with 12 109 registered voters. The ward was previously represented by the African National Congress and became vacant due to the resignation of the councillor.
  • Ward 80 in Tshwane Metro [Pretoria] Municipality – TSH with 12 384 registered voters. The ward was previously represented by the African National Congress and became vacant due to the resignation of the councillor.


KwaZulu-Natal (KZN):

  • Ward 13 in Ulundi [Ulundi] Municipality – KZN266 with 3 732 registered voters. The ward was previously represented by the Inkatha Freedom Party and became vacant due to the death of the councillor.


Limpopo:

  • Ward 17 in Polokwane [Pietersburg] Municipality – LIM354 with 4 951 registered voters. The ward was previously represented by the African National Congress and became vacant due to the resignation of the councillor.
  • Ward 20 in Polokwane [Pietersburg] Municipality – LIM354 with 7 278 registered voters. The ward was previously represented by the African National Congress and became vacant due to the resignation of the councillor.
  • Ward 36 in Polokwane [Pietersburg] Municipality – LIM354 with 6 170 registered voters. The ward was previously represented by the African National Congress and became vacant due to the resignation of the councillor.
