Use of Free State Official Languages Bill, 2013

The Constitution of the Republic of South Africa, 1996, provides that provincial governments must, by legislative and other measures, regulate and monitor the use of official languages. The Department of Sport, Arts, Culture and Recreation compiled a draft Policy document and a draft Bill dealing with the use of provincial official languages.

The draft documents regulate and monitor the use of three official languages for Government purposes by the provincial government, promote parity of esteem and equitable treatment of official languages and promote good language management by provincial government for efficient public service administration.
