Update on N1 accident

Nineteen (19) people lost their lives and seventeen (17) were hospitalised on Tuesday, 15 November 2011, as a result of an accident between two minibus taxis and a truck near Prins Albert on the N1. To date, 21 November 2011, two of the seventeen patients are still in hospital. One of the patients, a female, is stable and recovering at George Hospital. The other patient, a 60 year old female, is still ventilated but stable and in a satisfactory condition at Tygerberg Hospital.

All autopsies have been completed and nineteen (19) bodies have been positively identified.

To date five (5) bodies have been handed over to their families.
