Two people killed in head-on collision involving a taxi outside Rustenburg

Two people were killed and four others injured in a head-on collision that occurred six kilometres from Rustenburg on the Rustenburg to Thabazimbi road at around 8h10 on Sunday morning.

It is alleged that the driver of an Inyathi taxi made a u-turn and collided head-on with a Toyota Tazz. The driver of the Toyota Tazz and a passenger were killed instantly while three other passengers who were in the vehicle were seriously injured.

The injured passengers including the driver of the taxi also critically injured were rushed by emergency medical services to Peglaray and Ferncrest hospitals respectively .The driver of the taxi was alone in his vehicle at the time of the accident.

North West MEC for Public Safety, Howard Yawa in conveying condolences to the families of those killed in the accident and wishing the injured a speedy recovery appeals to motorists to drive defensibly in order to reduce the carnage on public roads.
