The Eastern Cape province will be represented by two local drivers in the South African Team to compete at the Union Internationale Des Chauffeurs Routiers (UICR) World Championships to be held at Sun City in Rustenburg next month.
The representatives Mr S Qongqo and Mr J Schreiber were selected to the National Team after competing at the second best of the best driver of the year competition to select the national representatives earlier this year.
The competition which was held at Boekenhoutkloof Traffic Training College in Pretoria in February saw the Eastern Cape Team placed in second position in the Bus Male Category under Qongqo and third place in the articulated category under Schreiber.
Those results were enough to see both Mr Qongqo who comes from Amathole District and Mr Schreiber who hails from Cacadu District get selected to the National team.
UICR is a body that coordinates and represent the interest of professional drivers worldwide under the auspices of the Road Traffic Management Corporation and the championships bring together the best heavy motor vehicle drivers for competitive banter.
