Two die and eleven injured in accident involving minibus taxi near Madikwe

In what is believed to be yet another accident caused by speeding, two passengers died in an accident involving a Toyota Tazz and Inyathi minibus taxi at the Phela-Tlokweng-Frede crossroad near Madikwe Township in the North West Province on Sunday afternoon.

Eleven passengers who were in both vehicles were seriously injured while six were slightly injured. It is alleged that the driver of the Toyota Tazz with four passengers lost control while turning at the interjection and drove into the stationary minibus taxi that was at a stop sign. The minibus which had fifteen passengers overturned as a result of the impact.

The injured passengers were treated by paramedics at the scene of the accident and rushed to Swartruggens Hospital. Police are investigating a case of culpable homicide and or reckless driving.
