Two security guards and a third suspect are in custody in the Northern Cape, after the money they were transporting went missing. The two security guards were transporting money to a bank in Pampierstad. They told members of Organised Crime that they had a flat tyre on the side of the road en route to their destination. They alleged that a Corsa stopped, and that several suspects robbed them of the money bags.
The two guards were detained for questioning. During interrogation, one of them cracked and admitted to the Hawks to participating in stealing the money bags. The cash, still in sealed bags was found in a house later, during which a third suspect was detained.
The Hawks are confident that all the stolen money was recovered. Organised crime will open the bags and count the cash on Tuesday. All three suspects will appear in court on Tuesday.
