Two suspects are appearing in the Umthatha Magistrate Court in the Eastern Cape today, on charges of conspiracy to murder. The SAPS unit, the Hawks recently became aware that the gentlemen were planning to assassinate five ANC provincial politicians.
The five include an MEC for local government and a secretary of the ANC in the province. The plot is related to the recent finalisation of the lists for local government elections.
The suspects were arrested in Umthatha yesterday afternoon. They both work for the King Sabatha Dalindyebo Municipality.
