Twenty two illegal miners are to appear in the Springbok Magistrate Court today (Friday). The suspects were arrested during a police operation in the Port Nolloth Kleinsee area yesterday.
The operation targeted illegal mining which is a huge problem in the area. Members of the Hawks in Springbok with help of other units from Springbok led the operation. They were assisted by the security departments of De Beers Diamond Mine Kleinsee and Alexcor Alexander Bay.
