The funeral planning committee of the late Mama Albertina Sisulu led by Minister in The Presidency Collins Chabane would like to announce the following transport arrangements to the funeral service on Saturday. The funeral will take place on Saturday, 11 June 2011 at Orlando Stadium in Soweto.
The committee has arranged a total of 500 buses and 7 (seven) trains to transport mourners to Orlando Stadium for the funeral service.
The following transport arrangements will take place as follows:
All VIPs are requested to park their cars on Saturday at Walter Sisulu Hall in Randburg. These VIPs will be transported in buses to Orlando Stadium from 06h00.
Metrorail trains
There are seven trains which have been arranged to transport mourners to Orlando Station mainly from Mabopane, Pienaarspoort, Leralla, Daveyton, Springs, Daveyton and Vereeniging stations. These trains will depart their stations as follows:
- Mabopane Station at 05h30
- Pienaarspoort Station at 05h30
- Leralla Station at 06h00
- Daveyton Station at 06h30
- Springs Station at 06h00
- Katlehong Station(Kwesini) at 06h15
- Vereeniging Station at 06h15
Buses
There are buses which will transport people from Johannesburg, Ekurhuleni, Tshwane, West Rand and Sedibeng regions. These busses will be utilise for members of the public who wish to attend the funeral. These buses will depart different regions and will collect people at bus stations in main routes from early in the morning.
- 120 buses – for the Johannesburg Region
- 80 buses - Ekurhuleni Region
- 80 buses for Tshwane Region
- 70 buses for West Rand Region
- 70 buses for Sedibeng Region
Accreditation
Accreditation for all VIPs will take place at Johannesburg Civic Centre, 158 Loveday Street in Johannesburg on Friday, 10 June 2011 at 09h00 until 19h00. Saturday accreditation will also take place at Walter Sisulu Hall, corner Malibongwe and Hans Schoeman in Randburg, Saturday, 06h00 till 08h00.
The committee would like to make an appeal that VIPs who can pick up their accreditation cards tomorrow, Friday should please do so to avoid delays on Saturday.
