Transformation forum for the events, technical and production services industry calls for the transformation of the industry

Entities and sponsors doing business in the Events, Technical and Production Services Industry are urged to promote transformation especially in the areas of skills development, preferential procurement and enterprise development. The call is made by the Transformation Forum for the Events, Technical and Production Services Industry that was established late last year.

The forum was established through the facilitation of the Department of Trade and Industry to transform the industry being guided by the Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment (B-BBEE) policy.

The forum has provided a platform for engagement, information and experience sharing amongst the stakeholders in the Industry. The outcome of this process is to develop an Industry Transformation Plan as well as agreeing on an approach to B-BBEE policy compliance and monitoring for the industry.

Members of the forum, consist of the following organisations amongst others:

  • Government (Department of Trade and Industry and Department of Arts and Culture)
  • Exhibition and Events Association of Southern Africa (EXSA)
  • International Festivals and Events Association (IFEA-AFRICA)
  • Southern African Association for the Conference Industry (SAACI)
  • South African Music Promoters Association (SAMPA)
  • South African Roadies Association (SARA)
  • Technical Production Services Association (TPSA)

Work that has already been done in the area of transformation in the industry will be taken into consideration during the development process of the transformation plan.

Request for information on the forum should be sent to: jmaphutha@thedti.gov.za.
