Traffic alert for the AFCON tournament!

All roads leading to the National Stadium (Soccer City) will not be accessible to motorists without a valid Vehicle Pass. Gauteng Sports Arts Culture & Recreation MEC Lebogang Maile says “To avoid traffic congestion and frustrations we appeal to soccer fans to make use of the alternative means of transport to the stadium, we want to present a seamless, incident free tournament that will be enjoyed by all.

Gates will open at 12 midday and we appeal to soccer fans to arrive at the venue early, at least two hours before the opening ceremony which will start at 4pm” says MEC Maile.

Soccer fans are encouraged to make use of the following Park and Ride or Park and Walk facilities:

Park and Ride amenities are located at the Constitutional Hill, Joubert Street in Braamfontein, Westgate: Cnr Pat Mbatha and Anderson Street (Johannesburg CBD), Metro Centre no 158 Loveday street in Braamfontein and Thuso House no 61 Jorrison street in Braamfontein.

Passenger Rail Agency of South Africa (PRASA) will provide trains for free to the stadium from the Park Station. Commuters from all the park and rides will be required to pay R30 for parking and a return trip to the stadium on Rea Vaya busses.

Park and Walk facilities are located near the stadium. The designated areas are Aeroton: Adcock Ingram Road, Cnr Randshow and Aerodrome Road. Shareworld:  Cnr Shaft 17 and Nasrec Road. Cemetery site: Cnr Randshow and Aerodrome Road .Motorists who wish to use these facilities must pre book their parking at Computicket before going to the stadium.

A Normal family car (sedan) ticket costs R50, a taxi ticket is R100 and busses will pay R400 for park and walk per vehicle.
