The Department of Trade and Industry (the dti) will support twenty exhibitors operating in Capital Equipment, Mining Technology, and Mining Services to showcase their products and services at this year’s Mining Indaba. The exhibition will take place in a form of a National Pavilionset up in partnership with the Department of Mineral Resources (DMR), Science and Technology (DST) and Brand South Africa. The Africa Mining Indaba will take place at the Cape Town International Convention Centre (CTICC) CapeTown, from 9 to12 February 2015.
The twenty exhibitors hail from different parts of the country, and will be provided with opportunities to meet with buyers and investors in the mining sector. The exhibition will be held alongside the Mining Indaba Conference on the precinct of the CTICC.
The dti will also host an investment dialogue which will be addressed by its Minister Dr Rob Davies, DMR Minister Adv Ngoako Ramatlhodi and DST Minister Ms Naledi Pandor on Tuesday, 10 February 2015.
According toMinister Davies, the decision to collaborate with other government departments in this event is because the Mining Indaba is a global event which provides an opportunity for government to actively engage with the private sector and international role players to explore areas of mutual interest.
Davies said the joint Investment Dialogue will also provide a platform for South African companies and investors to engage government on issues affecting the sector and provide information on the investment climate of South African mining as a whole.
"The Mining Indaba is therefore a big marketing opportunity for South Africa to highlight the investment opportunities in this sector. Despite the current cyclical downturn in the mining industry, South Africa by virtue of the being a leading country with reserves in number of key commodities remains an extremely attractive mining investment destination and has opportunities for the whole value-chain," added Davies.
